By trade he has 20 years experience as a Lighting Technician working for shows like Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus, EFX!, Mamma Mia, and Phantom, the Las Vegas Spectacular.  At the tender age of 40 he found himself 70 lbs overweight, unhappy with the direction his life was taking and decided to do something about it.

In the process of making is transformation he founded Mercer Health and Fitness Inc. and started following his dream of owning his own fitness business by becoming a fitness trainer.   On January 1st, 2013 Matthew had the opportunity to become the new owner of A Body In Balance, a Pilates studio in Las Vegas Nevada, and is enoying his new life helping others reach their fitnes goals.

I enjoy many forms of exercise including Pilates, Yoga, lifting weights and martial arts. In 2015 I discovered that I have a fractured L5, and a degenerating disk between the L5 and S1 vertibrae caused by a skydiving accident when I was 28 years old.  For me Pilates is the glue that holds my exercise program together and makes it all possible. Pilates keeps my core strong and stable, while studying the mind-body connection keeps me moving safe and pain free in all the other activities I enjoy doing.
